Kid Poems

The first poem I ever wrote,

at roughly 4 or 5 years,

my mom had to tell me every

letter to write in my folded and

stapled index card “book”:

“Three little kittens

sat in a tree.

One jumped out and

growled at me.”

Illustrated also.

From memory, it was a yellow cat.

My sister’s 4th or 5th grade classmate

wrote, perhaps a year or two later:

“The sky was dark.

The night was neater.

The lightning struck

and killed the skeeter.”

Wish I knew which kid, his name.
